Aston Villa F.C by far the Greatest Team the World has ever seen

…once upon a time.

Ok so we have fallen behind in recent years, and haven’t won a trophy in a gazillion years but that’s not what it’s all about if it were the stadium would be empty (well emptier) week in week out.  Realistically baring a Billionaire with more money than sense coming in to relieve Randy Lerner of his duties I will never see Aston Villa win the Premier League, if I am lucky I may see is win another trophy. 

For me football is all about the banter and rivalry, if I didn’t follow it and care about it then I would not see the funny side of Luis Suarez biting another player nor would I get the enjoyment that comes from sending the follow on jokes to my scouse mates.  We are all the same we will defend our own until we are (claret and) blue in the face and then they leave the club and they become Judas Scum a la Gareth Barry.  It’s all part of the fun, the closest thing to football is a pantomime – it is basically a pantomime for adults.

Why am I writing this drivel you may ask?

1. I am bored.
2. I see we are about to sign Kieran Richardson, and we are linked with Nicholas Bendtner.

So I am trying to remind myself why I do this, and I am trying to come to terms with the sad realisation that Martin O’Neill has spent all of our money.  I think most fans will agree that MON’s reign was a good recent period while it lasted but left a pretty sour taste in the mouth when it ended – he is such a Judas ;-).  But football is all about cycles so we get our new owner in hopefully sooner rather than later and then hopefully have another go, with a bit of optimism and if that doesn’t happen we pray for the return of Mario Balotelli to give us all a laugh, and failing all that we can always have a laugh at the goings on just down the road – they seem to be keeping their heads down at the moment hoping we don’t notice them.
